What we believe

We believe …

… in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe …

… that human beings are born with a fallen nature, and are, therefore, inclined to evil.

We believe …

… that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and, because of this, that whosoever repents and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

We believe …

… that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth and the entire sanctification of believers.

We believe …

… that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

We believe …

… that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

We believe …

… that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe …

… that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.

Belton Church is a member of the Church of the Nazarene, a Christian church whose roots go back to 1908. We are located in 162 world areas today as a result of our foundation of spreading the message of Christlike living.

The Church of the Nazarene is a Great Commission church. Therefore, our mission is to make Christlike disciples in the nations. We believe that God offers everyone forgiveness, peace, joy, purpose, love, meaning in life, and eternal life by entering and experiencing a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We are called to take this message to people everywhere following that message.

“… go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Matthew 28:19-20

Official Seal of the Church of the Nazarene. Round, black background, gold banner on top that says "Church of the", gold "Nazarene" on the bottom, "Holiness Unto the Lord" in the middle with gold flames coming off a stylized dove with its beak on a closed golden bible.

” … he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that He [Jesus] would be called a Nazarene.”
Matthew 2:23

The Church of the Nazarene is also a holiness church. Because of this, we believe that Christians can experience a deeper level of life in which there is victory over the bondage of sin, power to witness and serve, and a richer fellowship with God, all through the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
